Universal Monsters Reboot Begins With The Mummy

June 24, 2016 is the date set for the reboot of The Mummy, the first confirmed film of a shared Universal Monster universe.  Alex Kurtzman (Star Trek, The Amazing Spider Man) is set to direct.

After The Mummy, another film from the shared universe will be released April 2017, though it’s unannounced which monster (or monsters) it will feature.  Rumor has it that the recently released Dracula Untold is part of the shared universe, though it is unconfirmed.  Kurtzman and Chris Morgan (the two in charge of this new shared universe) were brought in to consult on Dracula Untold, so there is that backing the rumor.  If the rumor proves true, that makes Luke Evans as the first of the new Universal monster.

I love the idea of bringing back all of the Universal monsters, but I am concerned about who they will get to play the roles once held by the legends such as Bela Lugosi, Boris Karloff and Lon Chaney Jr.  Let me know what you think of the reboot, and who you think could fill the role of any of the Universal monsters.
