“Scream Queens” a Comedic ‘Coven’?

Ryan Murphy’s upcoming series “Scream Queens” is set to star Emma Roberts and Jamie Lee Curtis.  Roberts revealed that the show will have a vibe similar to Coven, noting the largely female cast is part of the reason.  The series is said to have more of a Comedic nature though.  It will be interesting what he does with the show in comparison to American Horror Story.

Iconic Scream Scene to be Redone in Series

The iconic scene with Drew Barrymore in the original film is being shot with actress Bella Thorne.   The series is rumored to center around a YouTube video, and features a new ghostface mask.

Filming that iconic scene can only mean one of two things.

1.) The series is going to be a remake of the film franchise.

Or (and what I believe to be more likely)

2.) It is a nod to the franchise, with the series going meta, a staple of the films.
Either way, I’m interested to see how it plays out.

Mrs. Voorhees Coming to New Friday the 13th

The new Friday the 13th will be taking place in the 1980’s, and is said to have both Jason and Pamela Voorhees.  Though it is unclear if she will just be a hallucination again, or if we will get to see some mother/son bloody bonding time.

David Bruckner is attached as director, you may know him from V/H/S.  They also took the time to crush the rumor that the film will be pg13.  “There is no PG-13 version in the world of Jason Voorhees.”.

Cary Fukunaga to Direct “It” Remake

True Detective director Cary Fukunaga has been announced as the director of the Stephen King’s It remake.  The film is set to shoot next summer, so we still have a while til it hits theaters. But Stephen King has given his blessing, saying ‘Go with God, please! This is the version the studio should make’.  The 1990  TV miniseries was wonderful, with Tim Curry making an amazing Pennywise, but I am excited to see It get the big screen treatment it deserves.  What do you think?

The Omen Television Sequel Gets Lead

A six episode follow up series to The Omen is in the works.  It will follow Damien during his adult life, coping with the dark forces at work and coming to grips with being the antichrist.  It was recently announced that Bradley James (of Merlin fame) has been cast as Damien.  The series is set to premier sometime 2015 on Lifetime.

Goosebumps Going Meta in New 2015 Film

Children of the 90’s rejoice, it was announced at SDCC, that there is a new Goosbumps movie being filmed.  Directed by Rob Letterman, the new film will not follow any specific storyline from the book series.

Instead, a new kid in town accidently unleashes all of the monsters from the books, and must get help from R L Stine (played by Jack Black) to trap them again.

From the looks of it, just about all of the monsters make at least an appearance, with Slappy the Dummy being the ringleader of the group of monsters.

The film is live action, with a mixture of cgi and special effects makeup for the monsters, and I have to say the monsters look great.  As they should since legendary special effects makeup artist Neville Page is involved.  Chech out below a little screen cap I did of some of the monsters.
