Stephen King’s Revival

Recently I have taken to reading during my down time at work, and this week I read through Stephen King’s most recent novel, Revival.

It has been a couple of years since I”ve read any of Mr. King’s work, but I”ve been a fan since my first encounter, reading It in middle school.  I didn’t know about Revival until I stumbled across it last week, and I must say that I am glad I found it.

The story follows the life of Jamie Morton, from childhood to present day, detailing his ups and downs, and most importantly, his recurring interactions with Reverend Jacobs.  It deals with major themes of addiction, loss, fantacism, and plays with the notion of what exists in the afterlife.

Throughout parts of the novel, I did not feel like I was reading a work of horror at all, but sprinkled through out is a trail of breadcrumbs, leading us to a horrific climax in the stylings of H P Lovecraft.

If you haven’t had the chance to pick it up yet, I recommend you do.
